Wow. I can't believe I'm finally here. Here in my little corner of Jeolla, South Korea writing my very first post at 'Jerrica from America'. It's been a long road to get here, but alas, I am back and aiming to be better than ever.
Maybe you followed my former blog @ www.writingandwanderlust.com , maybe you stumbled through by way of the treacherous internet black hole, or maybe you are one of the many family members or friends who won't stop pestering me about writing. You win friends, you win. To whomever you are in this case, thank you for being here and for pushing me to really commit to blogging. As you may already know, committing isn't my strong suit, so step one of setting up this website was a big one.
For those of you who don't know, 'Jerrica from America' was a nickname born in my favorite home to date, Auckland, New Zealand. It took me exactly 26 years to realize my name rhymed with my home country, and it was only realized when every Kiwi I encountered mentioned it. And when I say mention, I mean said in an overly excited, "DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE JERRICA FROM AMERICA?!?!!!" kind of way.
Actually no. No, I did not. But thank you for making me feel embarrassingly slow and for being effortlessly brilliant.
And so, the lightbulb went off, the idea for a new and better blog was born, and it only took me another 3 years to put the name into action. But I finallyyyy made it and I am ever so thankful to all of you, too.
So now that I have bored you all with thank you's and recognitions, let's get to the point of this thing. In the spirit of new names and redesign comes a new approach to writing. This time around, I aim to write both well and often. Fewer life ramblings, more helpful information, raw and honest material, and higher quality content. Tips, tricks, minimalism, budgeting, how's, why's and the likes. Don't worry though, the general messiness of life and funny stories will still make an appearance. After all, laughing at myself and my many misadventures is my favorite thing to write.
In the meantime though, thank you for being here, for sifting through my teeny space on the internet, and for supporting me endlessly on this wild and beautiful ride.
